Letter of Recommendations

Letters of Recommendation (LOR) are required for a majority of Common App schools, some out of state schools and some Coalition Application schools .
When should I ask for LOR?
Most teachers don't consider taking a LOR request until you are at the end of 11th grade. Some teachers will offer ED/EA?RD LOR while some only offer RD LOR. Please discuss with your teachers carefully so it will align up with your college selection and application submission date.
How can I get all good LOR?
-
Actively Participate in class activities and ask teacher questions that reflect your intelligence . This will help the teacher know you better and possibly lead a better LOR.
-
If you have difficulty catching up with class, talk to your teacher and seek help both in compass and outside. Schools usually have a student tutoring center in Library for free. Sometimes, group study can help too. There are many free learning resources online. We also offer free tutoring for low income families if budget is a concern. Show progress. Don't worry about a not so good score at the beginning of the semester, it is more important to show you have tried hard and your process is in the up track.
-
There is a chance to drop courses or switch to a regular course if needed. If you are stressed out for some subjects, talk to the school counselor, they will help you review the course selection and adjust them accordingly.
